| After the celebrations wound down, The party split to do some clean up and personal things. The herders and stable hands summoned Searo to the stable (or what would be the stable as soon as it is finished) to present him with a gift. A miniature horse, copper in color, strong and healthy. Searo accepted gracefully and took the horse for a ride. He rode up the cleared area of the river and noticed, out of the corner of his eye, something watching him from the other side of the river.
He dismounted and teleported with the horse back to town then teleported back. and crossed the river to the area where he caught a glimpse of the creature.
He of course was being watched and the creature doing the watching stayed hidden until he was sure Searo was the one he was searching for.
Long story short..... the creature is a minotaur, one like Searo has never seen, intelligent, empathetic, articulate.... in short not evil.
The minotaur tells Searo of a prophecy that tells of his civilization being saved from the beast of destruction, by Searo and his companions. He says that by coming to this place the party has awoken the beast from his slumber within the land.
The minotaur fills his pipe with an herb not immediately recognizable and takes a very long draw on the pipe, as he exhales, the smoke coalesces into an image (made of smoke) of the location where Searo is having this encounter. The images pulls back to show the landscape and zooms by in a few miles to the west to a small, what looks to be, nomadic village of minotaurs the image lingers long enough for Searo to see women and children, all minotaurs working and playing together. Again, nothing like the minotaurs Searo has ever dealt with in the past. The image pulls back again and goes about half a mile to the west and the only thing in view is a massive head, spiked and horned, with tiny eyes, and as the image pulls closer the eyes shift and seem to lock with Searo's, at that moment, the smoke dissipates and the effect ends.
Searo realizes that if the images were correct, the minotaur village was directly between the beast and New Pelios, which means, that if they cannot stop the beast, New Pelios is likely next.
Searo agrees to do whatever he can and the minotaur and Searo part, But not before the minotaur casts a very powerful (epic) summoning spell and called forth Iaaja, A Celestial Dire Lion from the plane of Avalon (played by Cecil) who agrees to help the party. Searo returns to New Pelios and gathers all of the party he can get on short notice. Which is basically Clandestine, Whisper and Ambrose.
The party teleports to where Searo saw the vision. And the party sees the 50' tall 70' long Tarrasque. The party, never seeing one before, preps for a fight. Long story short, there was little the party could do straight on vs. this thing. The party had very little going except that the "animal" was not very smart and the fact...Read the whole post... |
